Declarative process modeling – simplified rules design

Traditional rule designs in DCR graphs utilized arrows, prompting associations with directional cues that occasionally led to misinterpretations, mistaking rules for mere flows.

Recognizing this, we've opted to eliminate arrowheads altogether. Moreover, we've unearthed a crucial element from the old design: the dot's placement within the rule. This seemingly subtle feature plays a pivotal role in guiding users on how to interpret the rule.

Our new design builds upon this insight, prioritizing rule comprehension. Conditions are now represented by circles, while responses (such as include, exclude, or no-response) are encapsulated within squares, facilitating clearer visual distinction and understanding.
