Common activities and roles have been added to the DCR Portal. Common activities and roles can be shared among process models in a category, which makes it easier to maintain the same activity across many process models.
Supported use cases are:
- View, create, update and delete a common activty
- View, create, update and delete a common role
- Update all process models in a category from common activities and roles
- Add all activities from process models in a category as common activities
- Add all roles from process models in a category as common roles
- Create new major revision of all process models in a category
Ad 1 – View, create, update and delete a common activity
A new common activity can be added and modified from the menu found under common activities in the portal. We also show a list of all common activities found in the category.

The rules for the activity id from DCR Designer is still valid. An activity id must start with a letter and can contain letters, digits and underscore.
Ad 2 – View, create, update and delete a common roles
A new common role can be added and modified from the menu found under common roles in the portal. We also show a list of all common roles found in the category.

Ad 3 – Update all process models in a category from common activities and roles
All process models found in the category can easily be updated based on the information found in the common activities and roles. This can be done from the menu found on the common activities and roles:

It will create a new minor revision of all process modelsand update any activity or role linked with a common activity or role found in the category.
It is also possible to update a specific activity or role in all process models.
Ad 4 – Add all activities from process models in a category as common activities
It is possible to add all existing activities found in all process models, apart from activities having an activity id starting with “Activity”, as common activities.
Simply use the menu found above.
Ad 5 – Add all roles from process models in a category as common roles
It is possible to add all existing roles found in all process models as common roles.
Ad 6 – Create new major revision of all process models in a category
Creating a new major revision of all process models found in the category prepares the process models to be used in various IT systems. Choosing the above menu item Create new major revision of all process models will display the menu

Updating all process models will create a new major revision which can be seen in the revision history of each process model:
